ENERGY MINISTER GIVES TRANSFORMER TO SCHOOL (PAGE 35, MIRROR, FEB 27, 2010)

From George Ernest Asare, Kumasi.

The Minister of Energy, Dr Joe Oteng- Adjei, has donated a transformer to the Jachie -Pramso Senior High (JAPASS) to improve power supply to the school.
The donation followed an appeal made by the Headmistress of the school, Ms Asuande Eshun Famiyeh, on the breakdown of the school’s transformer.
Following the breakdown of the transformer, the school was plunged into darkness, making it impossible for the students to study in the evening.
She pointed out that the incident had also undermined administrative work, as well as security in the school and therefore, appealed to the sector ministry to come to their aid as urgently as possible.
It was that clarion call which attracted the sympathy of Dr Oteng-Adjei, prompting him to respond to their request.
A 100kVA33/0.433,3-ph transformer was dispatched to JAPASS to enhance adequate power supply.
The minister also donated another transformer-200kVA,33/0,433,3-ph to the Jachie town, following the breakdown of the one that supplies power to the community.
Ms Famiyeh commended Dr Oteng –Adjei for his prompt response to the school’s request.
Speaking to The Mirror in an interview moments after she received the transformer, Ms Famiyeh said the minister’s prompt response would go a long way to enhance academic programmes “ because students would now have the opportunity to study during prep time”.
